Lip Filler Aftercare Guide
Congratulations on your recent lip filler treatment! To ensure the best results and minimize any potential side effects, please follow this aftercare guide carefully.
Immediately After Treatment
- Stay Hydrated:
- Drink plenty of water to stay hydrated, which can help the healing process and maintain the plumpness of your lips.
- Avoid Touching:
- Do not touch, press, or massage the treated area for at least 24 hours.
- Ice Application:
- Do NOT use ice to reduce swelling, as the product sets best if it remains the same temperature as the body.
- Lip Balm:
- Use a gentle, hydrating lip balm to keep your lips moisturized.
First 24 Hours
- Avoid Makeup:
- Refrain from applying any makeup to your lips for at least 24 hours to prevent infection.
- No Strenuous Activity:
- Avoid vigorous physical activity, including heavy lifting and intense exercise.
- Stay Upright:
- Keep your head elevated as much as possible, especially when sleeping, to minimize swelling.
- Avoid Heat Exposure:
- Stay away from saunas, hot tubs, tanning beds, and prolonged sun exposure, as heat can exacerbate swelling and bruising.
- No Alcohol and Blood Thinners:
- Avoid alcohol and blood-thinning medications like aspirin, ibuprofen, or other NSAIDs unless prescribed by your doctor. These can increase the risk of bruising.
First Week
- Gentle Cleansing:
- Cleanse your face gently with mild soap and water. Avoid any harsh or abrasive skincare products around your lips.
- Avoid High-Pressure Situations:
- Refrain from activities that put pressure on your lips, such as kissing or using a straw, for the first 48 hours.
- No Smoking:
- Avoid smoking, as it can hinder the healing process and affect the results.
- Avoid Dental Work:
- Try to postpone any dental work or facial massages for at least 1-2 weeks.
General Care
- Monitor Side Effects:
- Common side effects include mild swelling, bruising, redness, and tenderness at the injection sites. These usually subside within a few days. If you experience severe or unusual symptoms, contact your healthcare provider immediately.
- Follow Up:
- Schedule a follow-up appointment with your provider 2 weeks after the treatment to assess the results and address any concerns.
- Maintain Results:
- Lip fillers typically last 6-12 months. Regular treatments can help maintain the desired results.
- Healthy Lifestyle:
- Maintain a healthy lifestyle with a balanced diet, regular exercise, and adequate hydration to support overall skin health.
